Cosmetic dentistry refers to a host of dental treatments designed to enhance the smile and correct chipped, cracked, discolored, and misaligned teeth. From porcelain veneers to tooth-colored fillings, patients can choose from a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures to restore the health of their smile.

We offer a  variety of cosmetic options. Some of these include  tooth whitening,  recontouring the shape of the teeth, porcelain veneers, bonding, and all ceramic or porcelain crowns.

Whitening is a procedure for making teeth whiter and more attractive. Our office uses several methods to achieve a whiter smile: Zoom!, custom tray whitening, and professional strength white strips.

Zoom! is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure. It's safe, effective and fast, very fast. In just over an hour, your teeth will be dramatically whiter. The convenience of Zoom! makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual. The Zoom! Whitening procedure is simple. It begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and gums. The clinician then applies the proprietary Zoom! whitening gel that is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become 4 to 6 shades lighter in one office visit!  A fluoride treatment completes the procedure. You'll be amazed with the results. In most cases, teeth get even whiter the first few days after the procedure. Trays with gel are recommended afterward for maximum whitening and maintenance.

The tray method for tooth whitening involves impressions of the upper and lower arch with fabrication of custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays are worn daily for a specific length of time. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however the dentist will determine which gel strength is right for you. The entire process usually takes one to three weeks of daily use for maximal whitening. The tray method is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take several months of use to see significant color improvement. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be used every several months.

Professional strength white strips are a low cost and convenient option to achieve home whitening. The strips are coated with a proprietary gel that adheres to the teeth and are worn for 30 minutes. Patients usually wear the strips twice daily for three weeks. The strips are an effective alternative to achieve a whiter smile, however some limitations include length of the strips and number of teeth whitened, sensitivity and maintenance.  Patients usually touchup with strips every few months.

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the visible or facial portion of the tooth. Veneers are usually placed on teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. Veneers can be used to repair chipped, stained or crooked teeth. The veneer procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves the placement of composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is often referred to as bonding. The procedure is completed in one appointment with minimal tooth preparation.

The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and a temporary covering is fabricated for the teeth involved. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made of porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneer fabrication over crown preparation is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are often recommended for front teeth that are discolored or have large defective resin fillings.
